New CEOs of Abrdn and Schroders have 'big jobs ahead'

Meanwhile, Schroders announced that Oldfield would succeed Peter Harrison as chief executive from November 8, 2024.

Oldfield held several senior roles in PwC before joining Schroders last year as chief financial officer.

Since joining Schroders, the company said Oldfield had made an “immediate and significant contribution” and provided a “fresh perspective” on capital management.

Schroders chair Dame Elizabeth Corley said: “Richard has proven himself to be a natural leader and client focused, people centric businesses.

“The board was unanimous that Richard was the stand-out candidate.

“It was clear that his strong business acumen will drive purposeful transformation at pace and we are confident that he will develop our strategic priorities, enabling Schroders to continue to grow and serve clients.
