And, in addition to perhaps encouraging clients who may be in obvious need to consider coaching or therapy, Mr Burgess adds: "A good adviser can really help support them through the aftermath of the relationship and all the feelings they may have been unable to process due to the stresses and strains involved in just getting through it."

It seems clear that while the expertise of professional financial advice is of great importance for clients going through a divorce, they most definitely need that 'human touch', too, at a time when they are most vulnerable.
