Concerns remain
In its latest data, HMRC said since auto-enrolment was introduced in 2012, participation differences across the population have narrowed.
However, there are still low participation levels for some groups, and the gender pension gap remains a concern.
Glancy from Scottish Widows said challenges remained for the self-employed or those in more casual employment.
"Over the last 12 years, millions of workers have been swept into saving for the future through auto-enrolment," said Glancy.
"But the work is not yet done. Some eligible groups still have relatively low pension participation levels - including 57 per cent for employees of micro employers in the private sector and 73 per cent for Pakistani and Bangladeshi employees."
