'We built our own back office after getting frustrated with tech providers'

They expect to beak even within five to seven years when compared to licensing the tech for their growing adviser base.

Heath adds: "We've worked on the basis that this is an investment on two sides, one on the recruitment side, because it's attractive, because people always ask what have you got in terms of onboarding tools, and we should retain advisers within the group as well, because they'll like it and use it.

"Also, we can keep a cap on the IT costs, because we're in control of it and we own it."

O'Hara adds: "The key to the whole thing was the initial planning stage. Because everything within it was asked for by the advisers, we had a very clear plan in terms of what we wanted the actual system to do.

"And I think that's where firms fall down a lot of the time, because you can get lost without direction."
